I am honored to have some of my Cloud Series included in this exhibition. The range of materials and concepts in the show will be exciting and thought provoking.
Analise Minjarez also asked me to lead a Introduction to Weaving Workshop on January 27th at the Bath House. I had such a lovely time with the wise women who joined me for the day. You can read more about the Bath House, here!
LOTS OF OIL AND COTTON SPRING WORKSHOPS
Sunday March 3rd 11am - 2:30pm
Fundamentals of Weaving Workshop
This workshop is an introduction to the fundamentals of plain and tapestry weaving.2 Of course, it also includes a non-stop commentary on hand work, history and the industrial revolution from “yours truly.” I am excited to introduce a new matching set of hand-held tapestry looms.
Sunday April 14th 11am- 2:30pm.
Fundamentals of Hand-spinning Wool Workshop
This workshop is designed for beginners (as well as those who need a refresher) with a focus on preparing, drafting, plying and other wooly skills. And of course, some culture and anthropology thrown in for free.
In addition, there are several really amazing teachers offering workshops and classes in the Spring Semester at Oil and Cotton.
Folks are always welcome to schedule time in the Textile Studio. Come spend some time, try out a tool or troubleshoot a project. Let me know what you would like to do!
I recently purchased a matching classroom set of hand-held tapestry looms. The rag-tag bunch of old looms are still around but may become part of a ritual bonfire, soon. No more broken notches or loose corners causing weavers to rend their garments and break their nails. Even with the loom purge, I will always have some looms to try out. I also have several rigid heddle looms for sale.
The workshops and exhibition sound fabulous June! I've updated my events post to include these. :) https://knitlikegranny.com/events/
What a big class at the bath house! 🎉 I’m excited for our opening 💕
