Dear Reader,
You have borne patiently with my ramblings, thank you. To celebrate our fourth week of companionship, I am extending an invitation to a:
Plop-Down and Make Something Open Studio!
I realize that not everyone wants to throw their entire life into weaving and spinning (only some of us are that crazy). So, hereafter, the first Sunday of each month (5-7pm) will be set aside for dabblers and fiber-arts-curious folks. Members and serious fiber artists are also encouraged to attend. Bring something to work on and maybe a snack to share.
I am always delighted to have an artist who works in a different medium (paint, clay, metals) sign up for a workshop. The opportunity for cross-pollination is delightful. We all learn from one another.
There is no fee to Plop-Down and Make Something. You can “pay” by making a donation to the Oil & Cotton Scholarship Fund. We use this fund to provide Oil and Cotton Art Classes for K-12 students who would otherwise be unable to join up. Because O&C is not a non-profit, your donation will not be tax deductible, however, 100% will go toward a worthy student’s Art Education.
Please, RSVP in the comments below or contact me directly.
In addition, there are some really good workshops with the inimmitable Aaron Sanders-Head in the hopper for Summer- read all about it here and here. There are more scheduled for Fall, including the return of World History Through Textile Arts beginning in September.
If you are not a dabbler, and would like to work on developing your time-consuming, detail-oriented textile skills, then you might like to sign up for the Monthly Membership.
I have (finally) put a lovely striped cotton warp on the floor loom. Members can try it out and weave a small tea-towel. If you are interested, talk to me about time and space to work.
I hope to see you next Sunday!!
Thank you for reading! This post is public so feel free to share it.
Count me in! 😊
What a lovely invitation. That’s a big day for parties and we have two, but, if I can squeeze it in, I’ll be there. I love your enthusiasm- Thank you June! ❤️
