Last week, I taught a short weaving class over zoom. It was terrifying until all the folks logged in and commenced making together. In the end, we had a lot of fun!
The program was organized by a corporate client for whom we offer weekly remote art experiences. The format we use is more like a demo, with hands-on opportunity, than an actual class.
Thankfully, Shannon (my amazing boss) had ordered sweet little 4x4” frame looms and folks found them easy to use. At the end, the host encouraged everyone to turn on their camera and hold up their work! Most everyone had something to show.
It was very nice to be back in teaching mode after a long holiday. My Wednesday evening Textile Arts for Teens Class is still small, but we have a good time together. I am also teaching in the kid’s studio again, which is always nice.
Which gets me to the big question for 2023: What would you all like to see happen in the Fiber Arts Living Room? Weekend-long workshops, weekly or monthly meet-ups, something different? One of my zoom students suggested a hybrid weekly meet-up. Folks could attend in person, and online.
I would love a weekly hybrid option!
I love the hybrid idea! It’s been too long since I’ve seen you.
